Marty Rosenfield retires as director of the food pantry

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE— The International Friendship Center in Highlands, North Carolina, announces Marty Rosenfield’s retirement as the Director of the Highlands Food Pantry. We are grateful for Marty's unwavering dedication for the past five years, giving many hours of service in order to serve those in our community who have been in need.  The Board members of the IFC wish to express our deepest appreciation for Marty’s role in the community connections we fostered during his tenure.  We also know that our clients and donors alike join us in wishing Marty well in this life change, remembering his love for the community that has shown up in many ways in his Food Pantry tenure.  The annual Empty Bowls event has been one of his special projects and has always been such a huge success, not only in much needed fundraising, but also in community awareness of the needs of our neighbors.

The International Friendship Center and the Highlands Food Pantry are currently serving the community on Mondays and Thursdays with curbside box pickup to keep everyone as safe as possible and offering in person, COVID-safe meetings with the International Friendship Center’s Social Services Director, Andrea Smith, on Thursday mornings at the Pantry.  Under Marty Rosenfield’s direction, we have been able to handle the changes brought on by the pandemic and we are all excited to continue these services as well as offering even more exciting advancements coming as part of the planned future for the Food Pantry in Highlands.

The International Friendship Center will always be grateful for the dedication, service and love that Marty has shown and continues to show to this community.  Please visit our website to learn more about our organization and what we offer within the community (internationalfriendshipcenter.org).  Thanks to Marty’s foundational support and direction, we can move forward with exciting opportunities to benefit the most vulnerable members of our community and to keep building relationships with those we serve as well as those who wish to help us in this mission.
